Whether it be making it a late day arriving on the hill, your departure day or just a day off from skiing/riding, brunch in Breckenridge can be one of the more satisfying meals you will have on your Breckenridge vacation. It will be even more fulfilling if you hit one of the following local spots that we feel are the best spots to grab brunch in our historic little town (not necessarily in order of quality).
Known for its corn beef hash and copious portions of home style entrees, Columbine Café is by far this guy’s favorite spot to grab brunch in Breckenridge. Mostly a locals’ favorite because of its tucked away location off of Main Street, you can’t beat the value. Additionally, if you like eggs benedict, trout with your eggs, pancakes the size of your plate and pickles with your bloody mary, you have come to the right place. But, just because of its obscure location, it doesn’t mean that people can’t find it … during the ski season wait times can often exceed an hour – the mark of a great place to eat brunch.
Located just a half mile from Columbine Café is the Blue Moose Restaurant, another one of those locals favorites. Make sure to bring cash, though, as they don’t accept plastic, but it is well worth it as Blue Moose caters to breakfast burrito enthusiasts, steak and egg aficionadas and eggs benedict fanatics in a warm, open and friendly environment. The Blue Moose is great for those looking for hearty home cooked meals, generous portions and and a friendly, family atmosphere.
Blue River Bistro
For a more upscale brunch menu, the Blue River Bistro, at the other end of Main Street, is your spot. However, it has to be a Sunday affair as they only offer a 10am to 3pm Sunday Brunch Menu … but it is well worth it! The brunch menu is as big as most establishments’ full menu and offers appetizers, soups & salads, entrees and sides. Don’t be surprised to find items such as calamari, bruschetta, eggs benedict and a steak breakfast wrap to satiate your appetite.
And for the second time in as many days, Clint’s Bakery makes our list. The first time as a great place to get dessert in Breckenridge and this time as one of our favorite brunch spots. Not only can you find some great bagel sandwiches and breakfast wraps/croissants, since it’s a bakery you can stock up on fresh baked goods, including brownies, cupcakes, pies, cookies etc. Clint’s is a bakery and coffee house, so fuel up coffee, espresso or tea before tackling the lift lines.
Akin to its name, yes, Daylight Donuts does have the best donuts in Breckenridge. But, this retail chain (1,000) located in 28 states also makes the likes of fried cinnamon rolls, sausage rolls, fried pies and breakfast sandwiches in a more “get in-get out” kind of atmosphere. Just make sure to get there early as they tend to sell out of their inventory well before Noon.
